With over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical market, Stäubli has developed the widest range of 4-and 6-axis Stericlean and cleanroom robots available, designed to address the multiple constraints of the pharma sector. Robots are increasingly popular in this field thanks to their exceptional flexibility and alignment with trends such as personalized medicine and small-batch production.
Our pharmaceutical portfolio includes the Stericlean range for aseptic environments and the Stericlean+ range, which meet the ever-growing demands of the pharma industry by delivering validated solutions that achieve the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
In general industry, robots are defined by three key factors: payload, reach, and speed. In pharmaceuticals, a fourth factor is equally critical—related to the production environment and the cleaning processes applied to the equipment. Stäubli provides flexible, market-specific solutions tailored to these requirements.

Pharmaceutical factory areas
A pharmaceutical facility is divided into distinct zones, each requiring different specifications for cleaning processes and particle emission control. Stäubli categorizes these into four levels of requirements, ranging from the most stringent—isolators in Grade A environments subjected to aggressive H₂O₂ decontamination—to logistics areas. Intermediate levels include inspection zones, RABS, and secondary packaging, where equipment is typically cleaned using alcohol wipes.
Level 1: Highly aseptic
Level 2: Aseptic
Level 3: Regular cleaning by alcoholic wipe
Level 4: No specific cleaning requirement, but still maintained as clean
